WSI Co-hosts Airborne Bathymetric LiDAR Workshop
WSI and Dewberry, in collaboration with the Pacific Nothwest Aquatic Monitoring Partnership (PNAMP), contributed to a series of workshops in June to introduce the potential applications and benefits of green-wavelength airborne laser scanning (ALS) for shallow water bathymetry. A new suite of commercial small-footprint ALS systems are being developed to enable topo-bathymetric mapping in shallow coastal and riverine environments. The workshop provided an overview of shallow water hydrographic ALS technology, green LiDAR applications and performance in aquatic ecosystems, as well as testing of the new Riegl VQ-820-G ALS in the Pacific Northwest.
