In October 2010, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) issued a Level II Recommendation requiring utility operators to conduct airborne LiDAR surveys of their overhead transmission infrastructure. Since then, WSI has completed thousands of miles of NERC surveys using our custom sensor package including rotary wing aircraft, high pulse rate LiDAR sensors, HD videography, and high resolution aerial imagery. WSI professionals are well versed in NERC line rating and vegetation analysis regulations for overhead electrical transmission lines and have created several custom visualization products for desktop "line walks" as well as vegetation clearance reports and decision support tools. Our PLS-CADD as-builts have set the standard for engineering grade accuracy (3 cm absolute). Prior to NERC, WSI successfully completed engineering as-builts of transmission lines 60kV and above for reconductoring and rerate projects, as well.
